On June 2009, the Faculty of Political Science of the Vytautas Magnus University of Kaunas is organising the conference “The Baltics as an Intersection of Civilizational Identities”.
Considering the multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and multi-cultural traditions of the Baltic states as a starting point to analyse diversity in small countries, the conference will examine the Baltic region from an interdisciplinary perspective. Focusing on the historical, political, linguistic, social, cultural and ideological aspects of identity formation and civilization intersection in the Baltic countries, the event will discuss and explore how the meanings of identities, languages and relationship have been renegotiated.
The conference programme will consist of lectures, paper presentations, round table discussions, and social events.
