As efficient technologies play a key role in economic development and sustainable use of natural resources, special attention will be given to aspects of technology transfer relevant to Central Asia. It will seek to find low-cost technological solutions to the most critical issues related to water and land management in the region.

- Transfer of technology in the area of irrigation
- Transfer of technology in the areas of water treatment and desalination
- Transfer of technology towards improved land management, combating desertification and soil pollution
- Analytical systems for evaluating possibilities for increasing water and land use efficiency
- Transfer of technology and expertise towards optimal combination of electricity production and water management
- Transfer of technology and expertise in the area of information systems, flood prevention and enhancement of dam safety
- Training, gender and health aspects of land degradation, soil contamination and water management
- Successful experience of regional co-operation
