Since 2003 ERA periodically organizes seminars on the european directives referring to the war against discrimination adopted on the base of the article 13 of the Treaty.
The first of these directives (2000/43) bans in several sectors any type of discrimination based on the race or ethnic origin. The second directive
(2000/78) bans any type of discrimination based on religion or personal convictions, handicap, age or sexual tendencies referring to the occupation or work conditions.
After having dealt with the principal arguments of previous seminars, essential for the comprehension of the directives, will be faced, in respect of the specific formative needs of the participants, the following issues: how have been acknowledged and implemented the directives in the member States beginning with action programme of the European Community on the war against discrimination? Which have been the main problems of interpretation? Is it possible to invoke a direct effect of the dispositions of directives? In sight of these debates will be represented the first recourses presented to the European Court of Justice.
With the purpose to make possible a mutual and fruitful exchange of experience among participants, are scheduled moments of discussion and organization of working groups.
