Papers, essays and articles in Society on Central Eastern Europe and the Balkans

This site gives very detailed, cross-country and thematic recent analyses on the target countries' societies and their special characteristics. Analyses are provided by PECOB's academic collaborators, research institutions, students and international organisations.

Among other issues, researchers discuss the consequences of the Balkans' conflicts and EU enlargement on the region's societies. Under this site you can find many analyses, opinions and research results on how to promote and save societies from stagnation in the long run.

Particular attention is devoted to the people who make up a given society, their origins, dominant beliefs and values, their common interests and the issues on which they are divided, the nature and extent of their involvement with national institutions, and their attitudes toward each other and toward their social system and political order.
