The KAS RLPSEE and the Association “PRAVNIK” are proud to open the application process for the International Summer School Sarajevo 2015 "Transforming Legal Systems from South-East European Countries to Respond to Human Rights Challenges".
The 10-day summer school program will be made out of lectures and workshops of numerous prominent experts (theoretical and practical oriented). Students will have classes in the morning and in the afternoon, combined with study time. Visits to domestic and international institutions will be a part of the program to ensure dynamics and opportunity to understand hands- on approach from practitioners. Summer school will also include extracurricular activities that will allow networking among participants.
The first, pilot, edition of the summer school project for social sciences students was implemented in 2006 and gathered 35 students (from SEE and EU) for 7 days in Sarajevo to teach them Balkan studies and to give them the opportunity to discuss relevant issues related to South-East Europe and the European Union. Until today, 200 ISSS participants went through the summer school and gained valuable insight on human rights, transitional justice, legal system and many other relevant topics for the region of South-East Europe.
The Summer School is meant to:
To empower future decision makers to work to establish the Rule of Law and Human Rights system in transitional countries.
To widen theoretical and practical skills of participants.
To influence changes in transitional countries towards sustainable Rule of Law and the respect of Human Rights.
The program encourages applications from graduate and PhD students of law and related disciplines and young professionals (under the age of 35); including a limited number of undergraduate students from South East Europe, Europe and the US.
