The Western Balkans Security Observer is a quarterly journal published by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP). The journal was emerged out of the academic community of the Belgrade School of Security Policy, a special division of the Centre for Civil-Military Relations set up to carry out systematic research and promote academic advancement of young researchers thus contributing to the development of security studies in Serbia.
The editors of the Western Balkans Security Observer publish the papers of researchers who are new to security studies, as well as articles of researchers with extensive experience in the field.
The Centre for Civil-Military Relations promotes the public and responsible participation of civil society in increasing the security of the citizens and state based on modern democracy principles, as well as security cooperation with neighbouring countries and Serbia’s integration into the Euro-Atlantic community.
In 2012, the Western Balkans Security Observer changed its name to the Journal of Regional Security (JRS).

Publication of this journal has ceased. It is now the Journal of Regional Security (JRS).
However, issues 1 (2006) through 21 (2011) are available to view for free here. The issues can also be downloaded for free from the JRS homepage.
