The Institut européen•European Institute (IE•EI), an international teaching and research institute in Nice, invites graduate students to apply for its Master programme 2014/15. The “Master in Advanced European and International Studies” (MAEIS) offers an overarching, encompassing vision of the political, social, economic, and cultural problems of today´s modern world. The courses are taught by renowned academics from various European countries, as well as experts from research institutions and practitioners from international organisations. They offer a multi-faceted view on Europe and give students the opportunity to discuss the achievements and problems of Europe and to develop ways to handle them. The Master programme of the IE•EI receives a special subvention by the European Commission.
One programme – two branches
The Master programme comprises three terms and is subdivided into two branches:
Subject Areas: International Relations, European Integration, Economy and Globalisation, Federalism and Governance.
Both branches organise a study trip to the European and international organisations in Geneva, The Hague, Strasbourg and Brussels. The courses take place from October 2014 to July 2015. A limited number of scholarship funds are awarded to particularly qualified candidates to cover some of the costs of their studies and/or their accommodation.
The IE•EI diplomas (60 ECTS) are awarded in cooperation with its partners, among them Istanbul Bilgi University, the University of Rostock, the EuroSapienza in Rome and the Institut für Europäische Politik in Berlin.
The IE•EI is a department of CIFE - one out of six institutes of higher education in Europe which receive a special subvention by the European Commission. The Master programme of the IE•EI celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, its launch taking place in 1964 in Nice. Over 2000 students, coming from more than 100 countries, have graduated from this programme. They now work for European institutions, international organisations, NGOs, universities, public administration and enterprises.
For the TRILINGUAL BRANCH:
The programme o fthe trilingual branch starts in Nice.
The first term encompasses introductory classes to all of the four modules (International Relations, European Integration, Economy and Globalisation and Federalism and Governance), completed by international conferences and seminars dealing with current world politics events.
This term is concluded with an oral exam before Christmas and the simulation week which is organised together with the participants of the Anglophone branch at the beginning of January.
During the second term in Berlin, teaching in the four modules continues with a focus on Eastern Europe and the Baltic: enlargement of the European Union, the new international order and the transformation process in Eastern and Central Europe. Our partner in Berlin, the Institut für Europäische Politik provides a dialogue with European integration experts and offers an insight into political life in Berlin. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to advance in there search work for their thesis.
The third term starts with a study trip to European and international organisations. Subsequently, two months in Nice aim at deepening the students’ knowledge of European integration and contemporary problems in international relations. The month of May is left at the students’ disposal to work on their thesis. The programme concludes with a two-weeks seminar at our partner university the EuroSapienza in Rome, the defence of the students’ thesis and the final exams.

For the ANGLOPHONE BRANCH:
The first term starts in Istanbul, it encompasses classes on the basics of all the four modules (International Relations, European Integration, Economy and Globalisation and Federalism and Governance), completed by international conferences and seminars dealing with current world politics events. This term is concluded with an oral exam before Christmas.
During the second term in Nice the teaching aims at deepening the students’ knowledge of European integration and contemporary problems in international relations.
In Berlin, teaching in the four modules continues with a focus on Eastern Europe and the Baltic: enlargement of the European Union, the new international order and the transformation process in Eastern and Central Europe. Our partner in Berlin, the Institut für Europäische Politik, provides a dialogue with European integration experts and offers an insight into political life in Berlin. Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to advance in the research workfor their thesis. The third term starts with a study trip to European and international organisations. The programme concludes with two weeks at our partner universityin Rome, the EuroSapienza, defence of the students’ thesis and final exams.

The diploma "Chargé de mission en organisations européennes etinternationales", recognised by the French state
Tuition for the Master of Advanced European and International Studies, trilingual branch is: 8 500 €.
Tuition for the Master of Advanced European and International Studies, trilingual branch is: 8 900 €.
