Institute of International Relations and Political Science (IIRPS) is one of the most prominent social sciences institutions in Central Eastern Europe and the Baltic region.
IIRPS has been present in the academic and political life of Central and Eastern Europe and the Baltic region since its establishment in 1992, has achieved a wide range of academic accomplishments and can boast rich tradition of hosting high level politicians, diplomats and distinguished speakers at its premises. While first focusing mostly on educating the future members of Lithuanian diplomatic corps, the Institute has gradually enlarged its focus to educating people with a wider range of knowledge and capabilities which empower them to work in a range of public administration, non governmental and private institutions, to continue learning in their future carriers. Being the leading institution in the country it has set in its newest Strategic plan the goal of establishing itself as the leading education and research institution in the Baltic region.
The Institute is an academic institution specialising in social and political sciences. IIRPS holds a faculty status at Vilnius University.
IIRPS conducts three-level studies: BA in Political Science and six MA Master programmes: International Relations and Diplomacy, European Studies, Comparative Politics, Public Policy Analysis, Politics and Media and Eastern European and Russian Studies (the latter delivered in English). We also conduct full time and external PhD studies.
For more than ten years IIRPS remains amongst the top choices among Lithuanian high school graduates attracting students with outstanding exam achievements. On different criteria the Institute boasts the most motivated students who excel in their studies and are actively involved into social life of the Institute.
The Institute educates energetic, highly-skilled and open-minded professionals excelling in the dynamic global society. Our aim is to develop students' critical and creative thinking.
It is an independent, non-political, public organisation uniting present IIRPS students and its graduates. RePublica is the oldest in the institute among the students' organisations. The main object of corporation is to cherish the IIRPS community and to maintain the relations of the IIRPS students and its alumnus, as well as to range the IIRPS students for the development democratic, legal, civil society in Lithuania.
IIRPS SR represents students' interests, consolidate students' community in the Institute, develop closer relations with Institute's administration. IIRPS SR also organises major students feasts, cooperates with other organisations and Students' representations in Vilnius university, is in charge of the Tutors program and traditional freshmen camps.
This academic organisation unites the students of the IIRPS who are interested in the scientific activity. The members of the Society organise research projects, meetings with politicians and scientists, lectures of guest speakers, student and international conferences, discussions and seminars, summer expeditions and other events.
Our Master study programmes combine traditional specialisation in political science and contemporary interdisciplinary approaches endeavouring to train creative professionals able to critically analyse foreign and domestic affairs.
IRPS is the first higher education institution in Lithuania granted the right to train researchers in political science thus ensuring consistent development and revival of political science in Lithuania.
