The Caucasus International Summer School takes place under the auspices of Asiac, Associazione per lo Studio in Italia dell'Asia Centrale e del Caucaso, and EPLO, European Public Law Organization.
The CISS programme has a strong multidisciplinary approach and focusses on key issues as constitutional rule of law and democracy, political cleavages, national minorities, de facto states, security and regional cooperation, Southern Caucasus and Europe.
Lectures will be held by world leading regional experts:
- Leyla Alieva, Center for National and International Studies (Baku);
- Helge Blakkisrud, Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (Oslo);
- Thomas de Waal, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (Washington DC);
- Aldo Ferrari, University of Venice;
- Sabine Freizer, International Crisis Group (Istanbul);
- Richard Giragosian, Regional Studies Center (Yerevan);
- Mikayel Hovhannisyan, Eurasia Partnership Foundation (Yerevan);
- Marina Muskhelishvili, Center for Social Sciences (Tbilisi);

Bringing together senior and junior scholars with younger researchers and students in Caucasian Studies, the summer school aims at providing participants with the opportunity to meet, interact and plan further research.
Participants will be invited to present their own research project and discuss it in dedicated workshops.
The summer school is open to PhD students, PhD holders and advanced students. Minimum 15 PhD students or PhD holders. Maximum 25 participants.
Candidates have to send the application form, a motivation letter and a full Curriculum Vitae.
Candidates applying for a scholarship are requested to include an abstract of a research project (max 1500 words).
The deadline for application is Monday, May 20th, 2013. Final admission will require the payment of the tuition fee and of costs of accommodation.
Tuition fee and cost of accommodation:
The tuition fee for registration to the Summer School is € 435,00.
The University of Trento has made available 6 partial scholarships (€ 340,00) that will be attributed to participants according to the evaluation of their research project by the Scientific Board.
The cost of accommodation is
- € 340,00 per person (double room, full board)
- € 544,00 per person (single occupancy of double room, full board)
