Who Can Erase the Traces? - The Role of Archives in the Promotion of Human Rights

Program

The panel discussion on the Role of Archives in the Promotion of Human Rights is organized by Central European University in the framework of the Summer University. The conference will address the protection of human rights from the particular perspective of the study of archive sources.
The panel discussion will be attended by international experts and scholars. Participants will address the role and responsibilities of human rights archives in preserving historical memory, supporting the pursuit of justice and fostering a process of reconciliation and historical dialogue in post-conflict societies. Activists and other practitioners who have been dealing with human rights archives will present to the audience their personal experience and and show best practices implemented in their work.

The panel is organised by the "Policies and Practices in Access to Digital Archives: Towards a New Research and Policy Agenda" CEU Summer University course.
