Call for Papers: Intersectionality in the Study of Central and East Europe

A call for papers on "Intersectionality in the Study of Central and East Europe" has been announced by the British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies for a postgraduate student workshop to be held in Glasgow on September 28, 2012.
Identities in the context of Central and Eastern Europe will be discussed by postgraduate research students, with specific reference to intersections between the concepts of  race, class, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, religion. Recent studies in the social sciences are increasingly defining these identities not in isolation from each other but in relation to each other. The interrelation and intersectionality of identities in Central and East Europe is the main focus of this workshop. Participating students will reflect on and discuss intersectionality in the study of Central and East Europe.
Intersectionality will also be debated in terms of research methods and translating Central and East European languages. Postgraduate students participating in the workshop will discuss which methods are suited to capture intersectionalities in the study of identities in Central and East Europe. Thw workshop will try to define how these studies on Central and East Europe can be translated in English language scholarship.
The workshop on "Intersectionality in the Study of Central and East Europe" will be characterized by multi-disciplinarity, as researchers in sociology, politics, history, geography and linguistics will take part to the debate.

Papers should be 20 minutes long and focus on the intersectionality between at least two identities (such as: race, class, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, religion etc).
