Memories of Titoism: hegemonistic frameworks

Written by Todor Kuljić, this article appeared on the journal Filozofija i društvo in 2010.

The paper analyzes the present-day conception of hegemonistic memory of titoism. Various instrumental reductions in the domestic cultural memory have been presented which encompass demonizations and negative symbolization of titoism. Close attention has been paid to the various myths and ideologization present in the memory of titoism as well as the factors of selective memory and a new system of the memory of titoism. It has been noted that privatization and retraditionization are the main factors in the creation of the new frameworks for remembering socialism and for the new negative symbolization of titoism.
