Europe’s East, Russia’s Western Neighborhood: Working Towards a Common Transatlantic Approach

The document is the video of a panel organized on April 28, 2007 by the German Marshall Fund and EGMONT. The panel focussed the successes of democratization processes of Central European countries. The discussants were the Hon. Dr. Carl Bildt, Minister of Foreign Affiars of Sweden, Amb. Marc Grossman, vice chairman of The Cohen Group, and the Hon. Alexandr Vondra, at that time Czech Republic's deputy prime minister for European affairs. They touched upon unifying issues of the Czech Republic, the EU enlargement perspective, the cooperation between the EU and the USA, the enlargement peaking with a focus on the themes of expansion and deepening, and Russian perspective. The debate was moderated by Stefan Kornelius, foreign and editorial page editor of Suddeutsche Zeitung, Germany's leading daily.
