Description: Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a university in Almaty. Founded on 1934, it is the country's primary and largest university.
Through its fourteen faculties (namely: Chemistry; International Relations; Oriental Studies; Preparatory Faculty; Biology; Geography; Physics; Mathematics; History; Philosophy and Political Science; Journalism; Philology; Law and Economics) the university offers a huge variety of academic programmes. There are 61 specialisations for the bachelor's degree, 48 specialisations for the master's degree, and 41 PhD programmes.
The university is partner of the student exchange "Deutschland in Kazakistan" and of the Tempus Projects "Entrepreneurial University as a model for proper managerial interrelation among education, science and innovation development", "Plan to Establish Research-Science-Enterprise oriented Universities for the benefit of Society" and "Central Asian Network for Quality Assurance and Accreditation".
