The conference will deal with five main themes, namely:
• the process of Eu integration of South East Europe and its implications for political stability, markets, legal system and the competitiveness of policies in this area;
• the analysis of the social dimension of public policies in the South East Europe countries, particularly the relationship between the social policies and the economic growth, the state expenditure, the market-liberalization process, the state corruption and the public opinion too;
• the process of democratization in these countries with particular attention to the post-communist transition, the corrupted electoral system, the people’s electoral behaviour and the extension of pluralism;
• the economic performance and trends in the Western Balkans, in particular the Global Financial Turmoil’s interferences in the economic performance of these countries, the impact of IMF’s financial support, the question of euro versus domestic currency, the role of the Central Banks, the trend of foreign direct investments, the economic strategies in the western Balkans countries and the financial crisis in Greece and Croatia;
• the ethnic minority position referred to the social, economic and political system with emphasis in Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia, and in particular during the conference will be underlined the institutional approaches to minorities, the interactions of party politics with minorities and the international community’s constrains upon the governments of these countries with regard to the ethnic-minorities’ rights protection.

There is not a participation fee for the conference and accomodation (including meals) for Western Balkans students and some international students will be provided at the student's dorm. Howewer transportation costs are not covered by the organizers.
