This journal was created in 1970 by the CNRS to interrogate the geopolitical turmoil of Europe as a continent which has given rise to a higher level of uncertainty and stronger economical discrepancies. It is a leading authoritative source to a better understanding of the eastern european region and countries, and their own ways towards democracy and market economy. Revue d'études comparatives Est-Ouest plays a defining role in its field of study and contributes to an emerging european forum of research in a wide field of social sciences (economics, sociology, politics, history).
