This category includes a number of papers, studies and documents about the economic transition in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkan countries throughout the last centuries, leading up to recent, largely European Union entry, issues.

EU membership helped transform former communist dictatorships into prosperous and peaceful democracies from Romania to Estonia. But as the EU enlargement seems to be now stalling, what will be the prospects for those economies that have just recently «got in» and what will happen to those that are still «outside»?
