This area offers a wide range of continuously updated news regarding both academic and cultural events together with academic calls and study programs
Venue: Faenza (Italy)
Period: Feb. 5-6, 2010
Envisaged as the first academic activity going to introduce the starting of a new PhD programme in “Diversity Management and Governance”, the conference is organized as a workshop for both PhD candidates and the general public interested in focussing the topic of security and stabilization in the Balkans.
In particular, the seminar aims to discuss about the political and social impact of the world and economic crisis on security and stabilization in the so called Western Balkans.
It will also try to foresee the strategies which could better guarantee to the Balkan area to pass the crisis without detrimental repercussions on the society and on the poor political balances of the region.
The main idea of the conference is to investigate through some papers and comments whether the current world crisis can create a new "Yugoslav syndrome" (like in the 80s) which might affect the regional governance or whether new events – such as the entering into force of the Lisbon Treaty and the role of the EU and NATO in the region – can give new beneficial effects in the Balkans for the reconciliation and stabilization.
