Founded in 1990 is a democratic-nationalist Party. It was the first officially political party in the history of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Erk started as a separatist organisation of Birlik. Muhammad Salih is the leader. In 1991 Salih ran for president, but after the election the party become illegal. In 1993 Salih left the country. Erk wants to nominate Salih as candidate for the 2007 presidential elections, but it’s not possible, because Uzbek law says a president candidate has to live in the country for at least the past ten years.
