TEMA Foundation, the Turkish foundation for combating soil erosion, for reforestation and the protection of natural habitats, was founded on 11th September 1992.
The main purpose of TEMA Foundation’s is to raise public consciousness about the dangers of desertification resulting from widespread soil erosion within Turkey. The pursuit of this aim requires the involvement of informing and lobbying governments, political parties, national representatives, educational institutions, official and private organizations, and media.
In particular TEMA focused its attention on particular objectives, the main of which are: to promote social responsibility for environmental problems; to ensure the protection and the improvement of natural habitats, human health, green lands, biodiversity, soil and vegetative cover and forests; to ensure that policies concerning the protection of environment are created by the governments, in order to create effective public support for environmental issues.
