Devoted to the understanding of nowadays Russia's journalism, the meeting "Giornalismo e comunicazione nella Russia di oggi. Dalla carta stampata ai nuovi media" ("Journalism and communication in today Russia. From printed paper to the new media") will focus problems connected to information, with particular concern on the theme of freedom vs censorship.
Many professors of history of journalism and political communication will gather in Milan together with journalists and experts, both Russian and Italian, such as: Boris Dubin, sociologist and founder of a study center for public opinion; Boris Dolgin, founder and director of the website Polit.ru; Julia Latynina, journalist of Novaja Gazeta and Echo Moskvy; Anna Zafesova, journalist of La Stampa.
The Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Daniele Checchi, will welcome the audience, followed by an introduction to the meeting by Ada Gigli Marchetti (University of Milan) and the projection of the movie "Anna Politkovskaja, icon of the opposition journalism" (in Italian) by Andrea Riscassi (Tg3).
Boris Dubin will then discuss "The mass media in Russia" with Gianpietro Mazzoleni (University of Milan). "The New mass media. Internet and blogs" will be the theme discussed by Boris Dulgin with Marco Pratellesi (Corriere della sera), whereas Julia Latynina and Anna Zafesova will analyse the Chechen case in "Chechnia through the eye of Russian media".
The meeting will be closed by a roundtable.
