The conference aims at analysing Europe and the former Socialist countries, as well as smaller states and non-state actors by looking at new ways to view and conceptualise the international and transnational histories of the Cold War era.
Leaving East-West bipolarity and superpower confrontation aside, with a multidisciplinary approach the conference will focus on interactions that took place despite the existence of the Iron Curtain.
The conference will analyse the following themes:

Participants and observes are welcome to take part in the 9th Annnual Aleksanteri Conference. Registration is required and will open in September, 2009.
