The politics of economic crisis: redefining economic and geopolitical landscapes in Europe and Eurasia

The Forum

To promote occasions for a high-level dialogue between leaders from both the public and private sectors on European issues, the Bled Strategic Forum organinses a Forum on "The politics of economic crisis: redefining economic and geopolitical landscapes in Europe and Eurasia". The conference will touch upon several themes of actual interest, such as: new global governance for the 21st century; Europe's security structure; economic crisis as a threat to security and energy supply; stability through regional frameworks related to Eastern Europe and the Caspian region; and economic challenges in the Western Balkans.

Currently in its fourth year, the Forum will analyse many interdependent geostrategic and economic issues. A special focus of this year conference will be devoted to relations between the Euro-Atlantic community and Russia.

The program

The themes analysed at the Forum will be presented through the following panels:

  • New global governance for the 21st century
  • Europe's security structure: A time to rethink?
  • Economic crisis as a threat to security
  • Energy security in an economic downturn
  • Stability through regional frameworks: Eastern Europe and the Caspian region
  • Economic challenges in the Western Balkans
