Center for the Research of Ethnicity and Culture

Name in Slovak: Centrum pre výskum etnicity a kultúry
Description: the Center for the Research of Ethnicity and Culture (CVEK) is an independent research and educational institute that was created in 2005 and is focused on research and analytical activities in the sphere of broadly understood culture and ethnicity. CVEK is contributing to expert activities and fostering of an expert dialogue in the sphere of minority issues, social exclusion, strengthening of a social cohesion, social construction of ethnic and cultural identity, race and ethnicity issues, and development of cultural activities and media space in Central European context.
 
CVEK as a research Institute develops mostly sociological expertise. Activities of the CVEK are both academic and practical policy analysis in all spheres of interest. CVEK utilizes qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis. 
 
In its activities CVEK fosters publication activities, organizes seminars, conferences, and workshops, works on expert standpoints and public-policy materials, and is devoted to consultancy activities. CVEK is personally and scientifically linking up on good traditions of research and analytical activities of the Program of national minorities of the Institute for Public Affairs Bratislava (1999 - 2005). 
 
Range of topics covered by activities of the organization: Social Cohesion; Social Inclusion; Social Capital; Antisemitism; Issues of Intolerance and Racism; Civil Society Development; Migration; Integration of Migrants and Asylum Seekers into the Society; Transnational networks; Ethnic and Cultural Identities; Discrimination and Abusing of Minority Rights; Education of Minorities and Marginalized Groups; Poverty and Social Policy; Public Policy in Minority Issues; Analysis of a Media Discourse; Technological Changes in Media Sphere and its Social Implications.

Description: The F. A. Hayek Foundation is an independent and non-political, non-profit organization, founded in 1991, by a group of free-market oriented Slovak economists. The core mission of the F. A. Hayek Foundation is to establish a tradition of market-oriented thinking in Slovakia – an approach that had not existed before the 1990’s in our region. From this classic liberal tradition, to offer practical reform proposals for market solutions to economic and social problems; in the reform process to widen and propagate throughout Slovakia classic liberal ideas, provide a platform to exchange of ideas of experts and the broader public, and develop the basic liberal ideas and values.

Slovak Foreign Policy Association

Name in Slovak: Slovenská spoločnosť pre zahraničnú
Description: Slovak Foreign Policy Association (SFPA) was founded in August 1993 as an open discussion forum on international affairs and the Slovak foreign policy without links to any party or movement. Its overall goal is to enable open space for free exchange of opinions and ideas on the scope of foreign policy. The SFPA is a voluntary association of individuals and bodies corporate with interest in the area of foreign policy. The main substance of its activities is to actively support integration of the Slovak Republic into the community of democratic countries and their political and security structures. The SFPA spreads unbiased information about international relations through its programmes based on primary sources. The association unites citizens of a varied political affiliation. Membership in the SFPA is available to everybody who is convinced of the importance of discussions concerning foreign policy and international relations issues.
