Description: The Centre for Advanced Study Sofia is an independent Bulgaria-based platform for fostering outstanding, highly interdisciplinary and international research in the Social Sciences and the Humanities. A dynamic institution with an excellent record of international project management, since its establishment in 2000 the Centre has initiated, carried out or/and hosted 15 major international and interdisciplinary research projects, having supported the work of more than 240 researchers from over 25 countries. The quality of the academic activities and the selection of Fellows are ensured by an Academic Council comprising scholars of high international renown. The research conducted at CAS aims not only to cross, but to question disciplinary boundaries, national scholarly traditions, and conventional approaches thus allowing for innovative and challenging intellectual creativity at the highest level. Description: Based in Sofia, CERMES develops curricula at the New Bulgarian University and research in the field of migration, refugees and ethnic problems thanks to a team of senior researchers and PhD candidates. CERMES launched a series "Migration and Ethnic studies" and participates in other publications among which: Krasteva A., A. Kasabova, D. CERMES participates in numerous national and international projects; it also consults Sofia Municipality for the big international project “Open cities”. The Centre organizes conferences and round tables on a regular basis to promote public consciousness of refugees, immigrant and minority rights, as well as awareness on migration and asylum issues. The centre contributes to strengthen the values of tolerance and integration.

Description: The Centre for Liberal Strategies was created in 1994 as an independent NGO. The research activities of CLS pursue academic depth while at the same time reacting to the current problems of the political, economic and social life in Bulgaria and taking into account the context of today's global world. The analytical work of CLS covers national, regional and global issues. CLS is actively involved in the structuring and implementation of the public debate in Bulgaria on key issues. The emphasis in CLS’s research and analytical work in the recent years lies on a wide range of issues: democratization of post-communist countries, corruption, populism, anti-Americanism and the new world order. CLS served as the secretariat of the International Commission on the Balkans and published its analytical report "The Balkans in Europe's future." CLS works in cooperation with a wide network of Bulgarian, regional, European and international non-governmental analytical centers and organizations.

Description: The European Institute Foundation is an independent civil organisation established in 1999. Throughout the first stage of its development, it provided support to the process of Bulgaria's preparation for accession to the European Union.
After that national strategic goal was achieved, the European Institute has continued working towards Bulgaria's accelerated and complete integration into the European structures, and also towards enabling the Bulgarian society to effectively participate in the process of formulation and implementation of European policies.

Description: IME is the first and oldest independent economic policy think tank in Bulgaria. Its mission is to elaborate and advocate market-based solutions to challenges citizens of Bulgaria and the region face in reforms. This mission has been pursued sine early 1993 when the Institute was formally registered a non-profit legal entity on March 15th, 1993.
