Venue: Prague (Czech Republic)
Period: March 30-31, 2009
A conference on Energy in Central and Eastern Europe is orgnized by Market force in order to discuss several important issues on energy security, such as infrastructures, energy flows and energy supplies.
In response to an impending capacity crunch and ongoing concern over energy security, energy companies across the CEE region are embarking on massive programmes of investment in generation capacity and supporting infrastructure. At the same time work is already beginning on taking forward the implementation of different aspects of the European Commissions third energy package and targets for renewables.
Whilst progress in regional cooperation and regulatory harmonisation promises to improve the liquidity of cross-border energy flows and the integration of regional networks and markets, much work remains to be done, and the current economic climate and rising prices make for a tough financial environment. This conference will look at ongoing projects and remaining challenges for the development of competitive markets and secure, sustainable energy supplies for the region.
