Description: The Carnegie Moscow Center is supported by the American Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The center works as a think tank, with an own staff of researchers, and orgnanizes round tables and other events. The center produces a journal in Russian focussed on politics in the post-Soviet space, "Pro et Contra", freely available. Some of the books published by the center are freely available in electronic version in English or Russian.

Description: The Centre for Independent Social Research (CISR) was founded in 1991, and in 1996 the official status of Autonomous Non-commercial Organisation was received.In contrast to many other organisations conducting social research during the last 10-15 years, CISR does not carry out commercial orders or conduct polls. CISR’s fundamental goal is to develop academic social research. The position that CISR occupies in the sociological community is connected with the organisation’s methodological preferences. CISR’s researchers are primarily guided by qualitative sociological methodology. Up to 40-50 projects are conducted annually, most of them in cooperation with specialists from all over Russia and abroad.
CISR is one of eight winners of the 2009 John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, who “demonstrate exceptional creativity and effectiveness, have reached a critical or strategic point in their development, show strong leadership and stable financial management”. On June 11, 2009, awardees was honoured at a ceremony at MacArthur’s headquarters in Chicago, which was attended by CISR’s Director Viktor Voronkov and vice-director Oleg Pachenkov. The most of the award will be used for development of recently launched a high-quality, peer-reviewed, independent, and bilingual journal of sociological research “Laboratorium. Russian review of Social Research”.

Description: Economic Expert Group (EEG) is an independent Russian company, that specializes in consulting services on economic and financial policy issues to government officials on federal and regional level. Economic Expert Group was established in 1994 to render analytical support to the Department of Macroeconomic Policy of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation. Since that time EEG has been working in close everyday contact with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. EEG provides Russian Government with analytical support at the negotiations with international financial organizations, Paris and London Clubs of creditors, international rating agencies, prepares monthly reviews of Russian economy, participates in monthly monitoring of Russian economy, carried out by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. On the Government orders EEG develops short-, medium-, and long-term macroeconomic projections, participates in the process of co-ordination of macroeconomic forecasts between official institutions (Ministry of the Economic Development and Trade, Ministry of Finance, Bank of Russia) and between the Government of Russia and the IMF in the process of discussing parameters of economic programs. EEG elaborated presentations of Russian economy for Offering Circulars of all issues of eurobonds of the Russian Federation.

Description: The Ye.T. Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy is a scientific research and educational methodology center. It is a nonprofit organization legally established as a foundation. One of the founders of the Institute is the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation (now - the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration).
The Institute for Economic Policy of the Academy of National Economy and the Academy of Sciences of the USSR was established in 1990 and renamed as the Institute for the Economy in Transition (IET) in 1992. Its creator and permanent Director, until December 2009, was Yegor Gaidar.

Besides, the Academy is a major higher school training managers in a variety of fields and providing graduate and post-graduate courses for economists and sociologists.The VCIOM and ANE are high-authoritative research institutions that have established a number of non-for-profit economic and sociological research organizations.
