Eurasian Regional Language Program

The program

American Councils offers academic-year, semester, and summer programs for language study in Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine and Russia.
The academic program is designed to improve students' oral, listening, and reading proficiency in the language of study. Course work typically includes classes in phonetics, grammar, and conversation as well as composition, oral comprehension, and reading. Courses in literature, history, politics, culture, and area studies are available for students with advanced language skills.
All classes are conducted in the target language by full-time faculty from leading local universities and educational institutions who have extensive experience teaching foreign students.
Participants will receive academic credits through Bryn Mawr College.

How to apply

Graduate students or advanced undergraduates who have completed two years of college-level study in Russian, the target language, or a language related to the target language are eligible to apply.
To be complete, appplication must include the following materials (to be sent to the American Councils):

  • Statement of purpose in English (original and 4 copies)
  • Essay in target language (original and 4 copies)
  • Current resume (original and 4 copies)
  • Three personal reference forms
  • Official transcripts
  • Agreement and release form
  • Processing fee
  • Financial aid application
  • A photocopy of the inside page of your passport
  • Medical forms and requirements
