Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI)
SRI is the main Romanian intelligence service specialized in the gathering, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence collected from inside the country. Its mission is to identify, prevent, and counter threats to national security as stipulated by law.SRI is part of the national defense, public order, and national security system.
Our mission is to protect democratic values and promote the national interest of Romania and of its allies in order to ensure national security, the observance of civil rights and freedoms and the defense of the rule of law.
In order to carry out this mission, SRI focuses its activity on:
- PROTECTION
SRI protects Romanian democratic values, ensures the safety of citizens, as well as the security of economic and classified information.
- PREVENTION AND COUNTERING
SRI takes steps to prevent and counter espionage, terrorist and cross – border organized crime activities that, by nature and extent, affect national security.
- PROMOTION
SRI promotes the security interests of Romania and of its allies in an ever-changing geostrategic framework of states, corporations and asymmetric threats.
We share the vision of a democratic state, with enduring security and competitive economy. To this end, we act discreetly and efficiently, therefore the results of our work indicate rectitude and legality. We are part of the national intelligence community and we build partnerships with our allies, as we are aware of the need to join our efforts in order to prevent terrorism, organized crime and other threats to national and international security.
