This area collects and offers a wide range of scientific contributions and provides scholars, researchers and specialists with publishing opportunities for their research results
PECOB offers a wide range of papers, essays and articles written by scholars, researchers and students in History whose main research focus is Central Eastern Europe and the Balkans.
Articles and documents of the History section of PECOB Scientific Library explore historical processes characterizing a diverse and complex region ranging from Eastern and Southeastern Europe to the Post-Soviet space and Central Asia.
In the last few centuries, Central Eastern Europe has witnessed the fall of the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires, two world wars and a complex - and often violent - process of nation and state building. Until very recent times, Eastern Europe was the scene of wars, persecutions and forced migrations. Historians have analysed these topics with a variety of approaches and from different perspectives. Some of them have discussed the general dynamics of history in Eastern Europe, while others have focused their attention on a specific timeframe, set of events or country.
PECOB's aim in providing access to articles and documents on the history of Central Eastern and Balkan Europe is to foster academic debate and further reseearch by scholars and students interested in this region. Papers and essays collected in this section will be useful to students, young researchers and established scholars, who will in turn be able to contribute to PECOB's Scientific Library.
